Another mega, uber corporation. A common theme in Scifi, Weyland-Yutani is probably the big daddy, encouraging the birth of THE alien. Then there’s the apparently so powerful it has a rediculously simple name, Resources Development Association, or RDA, in Avatar. Umbrella Corporation single handedly destroys the world in the Resident Evils. They are never benevelent and people are often either enslaved by them or in such high places of power they loose any sense of humanity. It’s also no surprise that they are often so closely linked to whatever government is in place that there isn’t even a thin line. They will stop at nothing, until a small group of people, even down to one lone hero stands up to them. Scifi is often a prophet.
