I troll antique stores (yes, I’m a picker) for treasures like these. I managed to find a “subscription” to a Charles Atlas original course (1930′s pressing). Many a JO session when I was a kid looking at the ads in my comic books. And an original of “Train Station Sex” by Centaur Publications. Happy times…Happy times. This or any other of Tom Of Finland, or Sean/Entienne original would be an incredible find. It’s why I keep looking.
Hey Joe, I keep forgetting to ask you. I know Tom of Finland was an influence. I can certainly see how. There are the parallels of virile men, cheerfully having sex with each other. I always thought that Fred Halsted’s character, Gene, in “El Paso Wrecking Corp.”, was like a Tom of Finland cartoon come to life. You dedicated, “L.A. Tool & Die”, to him. Did you ever meet him? Was he a fan of your work? Did he appreciate the dedication?
