Skeleton crew and cast —final day of production.

Director Joe Gage, Dillon Buck, Producer/Director of Photography Brian Mills
The Chainsaw rough-cut is being completed by the Titan post-production team on the other coast while I remain holed-up out here in the woods by the sea, working on the next production in the pipeline.

I’m not as isolated as this, but it’s close. And there’s nothing out here at this time of year that approaches the colors of nature in this shot, except for the giant evergreens that loom above me on all sides. It’s 9 ° out there right now; I was snowed-in for most of this week and there’s more snow on the way.
THE CURSE OF COPPERHEAD CANYON
The troubles that plagued principle photography on Face-Off in Copperhead Canyon (power outages, equipment failure, etc.), continue. This is the first movie I’ve shot in High Definition, and the change-over from one format to another caused my system to balk. It took two days to solve the problems, so I’m now slightly behind schedule. But hey, when I finally got started logging the material, I got that old feeling. Alternate title: There Will Be Hotness.

Food For Thought
Biology is about variation. Without variation, the world would be static and unchangeable, and species would gradually disappear as they failed to meet challenges like changing climates and environments. So as we continue our very necessary debates over ethical issues, let’s bear in mind that morality is a concept limited to our species. The natural world is a fuzzy place that doesn’t always accommodate our decidedly human need to find cut-and-dried categories.—Neil Shubin, associate dean , University of Chicago, provost of the Field Museum, author of “Your Inner Fish: A Journey Into the 3.5-Billion-Year History of the Human Body.â€
